About This Course

The recent development of key exponential technologies is bringing great advantages to process automation, contributing to an industrial revolution known as Industry 4.0.

This course will provide you with a general understanding on these trending exponential technologies and how they are contributing to very innovative applications in Robotics, ranging from autonomous cars to robotic surgery.

The course will also allow you to become familiar with some of the most popular tools for software development in Robotics, with a special focus on the Robot Operating System (ROS). ROS enables both the early development of robotic mechanisms as well as the deployment of complex industrial robotic systems. Additionally, you will learn the basics of Gazebo, a fundamental tool for modern robot simulation.

Furthermore, the course will provide you with an introduction to rapid prototyping methods for robot development and an overview of soft robot designs.

Goals

  • Understand the principles behind the main trending exponential technologies.

  • Discover new applications of Robotics based on exponential technologies.

  • Understand the architecture of a ROS-based robotic system.

  • Build a basic robotic simulation.

  • Be able to make basic decisions on materials and techniques for rapid prototyping.
